What Can I Do if a Debt Collector is Calling Me All the Time?

There’s a two-tiered answer to this. First is the DIY approach. You can send the debt collector what we call a cease and desist letter.

You can find a lot of templates for a cease and desist letter online, but the essence of the letter is that you’re instructing the debt collector to terminate any phone calls that they’re making to you. This letter should be sent in writing.

You should keep a copy of the letter for yourself and you should send it out certified with the return receipt so you can later show that it was actually sent and received. If the DIY approach isn’t sufficient, then you should look at legal counsel.

Depending on the circumstances of the case, an attorney may be able to enforce the abuse of conduct.
